I want to go to Kerala this winter and would love a travel buddy to share the experience.  I've been to India several times before but never to Kerala and have heard so much raving about the beautiful/amazing scenery and landscapes from mountains in the north to beaches in the south and west, as well as great Keralan cooking.

Anyone interested in talking about the idea and seeing this gorgeous place?

I'm a self-employed counsellor so can take holidays more or less when I want, and like to be in a warmer climate than the UK in the winter!  After Kerala in December I want to spend 3 weeks at an excellent ayurveda centre in Hyderabad, where I've been before and can't wait to get back for those amazing massages and treatments.  So I intend to be away for a total of up to 6 weeks; I mainly want a buddy for the Kerala part of my trip, but if anyone's interested in the rest, let me know!

Hi I just wondered what the latest is on this trip? Is it still happening and if so has anyone else signed up to go? Also the Ayurvedic centre sounds interesting, does it have a website?
Thanks
Jacq

hi jacq, nothing has been

hi jacq, nothing has been arranged yet, I've been waiting for my house to sell before justifying a big trip and sadly still not sold : (
Several people have said they're interested but nothing organised, so I guess it's on hold! The ayurvedic centre I go to doesn't have a website but you can email any questions to [email protected]. I'll post any progress or news of my plans, but if anyone else fancies planning something themselves, go ahead! Cathy

If i can get the time off,

If i can get the time off, count me in, sounds fantastic!!!

Hello, sorry, I though I had

Hello, sorry, I though I had to be a member of the group to write, and then I realize that it confirmed me as a traveler companion, sorry!!!!!!

The trip sound quite interesting. I like the idea that it is long, but fear the prices, lol, could you give me an idea on how much are we talking about? including the 3 weeks at the Ayuveric center. I use to be a holistic teacher. :-). I have MS, and fatigue is a great problem for me, I haven't done any traveling since being diagnosed, and before it was with my ex, so he was taking care of many things (driving, lugage ...etc) so I don't know how I would cope. Still, I would be interested to have more details about the trip and about the ayuveric center. :-). Thank you
Nicole

Hi Cathy I was in Kerala last

Hi Cathy
I was in Kerala last Feb/March. I didn't get to travel as much as I wanted but it is much easier to get a driver etc. than trying to brave public transport.
If there is a group of you it works out very inexpensive. I would love to explore more of Kerala & also visit the school in Cochin I worked at. Keep me informed on dates etc.
I di pm you as well
Charen

Hi Charen, yes from what I've

Hi Charen, yes from what I've heard hiring a driver sounds like the best option - esp as I'm not as young/flexible/unfazed by crowds as I used to be!
I haven't got exact dates in mind other than December yet, but let's get in touch and get to know each other a bit anyway. A photo would be good to have a picture of who I'm talking to! Or do you have a FB page? Are you a teacher or are you restricted to school hols because of kids? how long did you work in Cochin?
Cathy

Hi Cathy. I'm retired tho i

Hi Cathy.
I'm retired tho i still do some supply work in schools.
I'm not restrictted to sch hols.
However I have committed to doing some work in an Orphanage in the north of India in Nov/Dec.
What I like to do is then have some relaxation time.
Not good with technology but will try & get a photo uploaded soon.
Would be good to maybe meet some where easy for both of us or for anyone else who is interested.
Regards
Charen

Hi there, I went to Kerala in

Hi there, I went to Kerala in Feb 2010 and had such an amazing time, you will love it there, do make sure you check out the beaches, backwaters and hills. I have a friend out there who's a tour guide if you need any advice, enjoy! I'm off to Nepal/North India in October, can't wait...

Hi thanks for your comment,

Hi thanks for your comment, everyone I know who's been there says the same and I can't wait! My Dad was born in Ooty so I want to take the hill railway to see where he was born, and sure the backwaters and beaches are a must too. It would be great to have your tour guide friend's details; I'd like to find out the best way to get around; don't always want to be getting crowded buses, and have heard it's not too expensive to get a driver - any experience of that? I was in Nepal in the 80's (God that makes me feel so old!) and fell in love with it, it's paradise although it's a lot more touristy now - make sure you go on a trek, it's amazing. Cathy
