Jan 1-7, 2012 - North Africa - maybe Morocco?
I'll be volunteering in Ghana the week of 24/12/2011-30/12/2011 and want to do something else the next week. I have always wanted to go to Morocco and it is right there...well...sort of... I'm from Florida so I would like to maximize the trek to Africa. The timing might be weird, but I thought it might actually be great to be away for the holidays.
No clear plans, other than visiting the markets and other architectural wonders. Oh, and riding a camel. Okay, so that is totally touristy, but well...I have to do it! It might also be cool to take one of those afternoon cooking classes.
It doesn't really matter to me about the group size - they make you select one, but really, the more the merrier! Also, I selected Marrakech, but would be totally open to going elsewhere as well if anyone has a great idea about another location in Morocco.

I am looking for a break
I am looking for a break around Dec 11/Jan 12 and have been looking at Morrocco - Marrakech, the only snag is flights can you get flights from BHX? I haven't been able to find any. Do you have to go with certain Airlines?
I don't know really - I am
I don't know really - I am trying to figure out flights this weekend. I will be coming from Ghana which will probably be weird.
I'm very interested in this
I'm very interested in this holiday. I love visiting markets and looking at architectural wonders. I've been camel riding before but not for a long time. A totally touristy agenda is also fine by me as it’s some winter sun to look forward that I really need and Morroco is somewhere I have always wanted to go but did not fancy it on my own. I have to do it! It might also be cool to take one of those afternoon I did a Thai cooking classes when I was there so would be up for cooking class as well.
Seems like there is a far few interested I wonder if is worth seeing what would suite everyone. Maybe looking into a tours or maybe just an apartment to hire were we can all make our way to and then sort out what we want to do when we are there. Just an idea.
I've been to Morocco twice -
I've been to Morocco twice - both times on trecking holidays, but staying in Marakesh for the start and end. Its a great city, and wondering around the square day or night is fascinating, and very safe from my experience - but avoid the tannerys! Visit the Jardin Majorel, and try a hammam. If it was me, 7 nights in the city would be too much, and if you really want to see Morocco, leave the big cities, and go on a treck. Both times I've been with Exodus, who have a policy of employing local guides in Morocco, so you get more of an insight. The High Atlas will be covered in snow over xmas, and would be difficult to walk without snow/ice walking experience - but there are other places such as Jebel Sahro - about 5 hrs south of Marakesh, which is very spectacular desert scenery or the Anti Atlas. Hope you enjoy!
That sounds like fun... what
