Salsa Cubana - 16 Day Cultural Trip

Highlights

  • Explore Old Havana & Santiago de Cuba
  • Walk in spectacular scenery
  • Experience Cuba's rich cultural history

Enjoy an in-depth exploration of Cuba's past and present, exploring the fascinating blend of Latin culture, atmospheric cities and Caribbean beaches. The colour and music weave their way through the country; sip a rum cocktail, enjoy red snapper at a friendly paladar, savour a cigar and a cafe cubano, and shortly after arriving you'll be engulfed in the passion and tapping your feet to the Cuban rhythm. Our well planned itinerary takes you to see the full spectrum of Cuban life in a fortnight.

“Travelling to Cuba is a little bit like time travel...you go back to a stage when life was slower, gentler, where human relations were more important than the bottom line. This is what makes Cuba the ideal place for a holiday.” Lucy Davies - Cuban Agent

The Itinerary

1 - Fly to Havana
2 - Explore old Havana and recall Cuba's historic past of Che Guevara, Castro and Hemingway. Classic American cars still ply the city streets and the hypnotic rhythm of salsa drifts from cafes and bars. It really is something special
3/4 Viñales - Travelling west to the lush countryside of Viñales you'll walk through tobacco fields nestled amongst striking limestone outcrops. The pace of daily life drops considerably.
5 Bay of Pigs - The laid-back port of Cienfuegos provides a home this evening; en route you'll visit the infamous Bay of Pigs.
6 Santa Clara - In Santa Clara you visit Che's mausoleum and walk in the Escambray Mountains before descending to beatiful Trinidad.
7 Trinidad - You'll be on your feet today to enjoy a walking tour around the historical colonial streets of Trinidad, now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
8 Camaguey - Here you’ll enjoy the colonial buildings, especially churches, of this once important city, but now a lazy and relaxed place.
9 Sierra Maestre - There's an exciting excursion today; you’ll take a walk in the Sierra Maestre where Castro's revolutionary forces went into hiding. Then you'll head on to Fidel's lair.
10/11 - Santiago de Cuba Santiago is Cuba's second city. Here there's plenty of time to explore the colourful streets and relax in the bars before heading to Baracoa.
12/13 Baracoa - After your busy itinerary you've time to wind down in sleepy Baracoa, and relax on the gorgoeus nearby beaches.
14 - You'll fly to Havana to enjoy the feel of this vibrant and unique city.
15/16 - Overnight flight home
