I am flying to Havana on the 12th January for three weeks independent exploration of Cuba, and would like to hear from anyone who would like to join me for some or all of that time.

I've already booked a double room for the first 3 nights in Havana, and afterwards plan to travel around the island by bus and maybe an occasional internal flight (it's a big island!) and stay at casas particulares (private guest houses run by Cuban families).

My particular interests are music, history, architecture, museums, plants and birds, brushing up my rusty Spanish, and trying a few steps of Salsa and a few glasses of the local rum (not all at once:+).

I'm not planning on going to any of the beach resorts, tho I'm not averse to sitting under the odd palm tree from time to time.

You'll need to be fairly laid back -Cuba is a Communist country with service and facilities somewhat lacking, and they say the food is pork/chicken with rice/beans.

Temperature in  January is around 25C, so beats staying in the UK!  You can contact me for further details, estimated costs etc.

hi i would like to go to cuba

hi i would like to go to cuba - or another robinson crusoe caribbean island over christmas and the new year - i havent booked anything yet - a bit apprehensive of going alone - a shame our dates dont coincide - but wondering how you plan to travel around - how you find accommodation other than package trips etc - are you hiring a car and touring around as the mood takes you? can you tell me how to find cheap flights - best wishes would love to know how you get on - whether I get there or somewhere else myself !

Hi -well, I doubt you'll get

Hi -well, I doubt you'll get cheap flights to Cuba for Xmas/New Year if you haven't booked already. Last time I looked, Virgin flights to Havana were £800 (as opposed to £500 I paid). Those are peak times for travelling, I'm afraid. Cubana are slightly cheaper, but have bad reviews..
I don't drive, so I plan to travel around by Viazul bus -which has a good network all over the island and yes, I shall go as the mood takes me. I shall be staying in Casa Particulares (private houses licensed to rent out rooms)-much more friendly than hotels as you can eat with the family, and cheaper too! To find details of casas, buses etc. there are some good websites worth checking out cubajunky.com, lonelyplanet.com/cuba/forum and tripadvisor cuba forum. Sorry those arent the exact urls, but you can Google them. Also, a guide book tells you all you want to know, especially Rough Guide, Lonely Planet etc. Hope this helps -I'll write a report when I get back.xx Anita

I'm Planing a trip to Cuba

I'm Planing a trip to Cuba with a friend in march, so i'll be excited to hear all about your adventures when you get back .:-)

I was going april, so keep me

I was going april, so keep me updated on your trips.

I have been before, June 2019

I have been before, June 2019 & would like to go next year anytime from the end of May to August.
I loved it & said I would always return, with a cheep airfare $99.00 from NYC to Jamacia then over to Cuba exit threw Mexico to LAX then home. The US have resritictions on bring things out of Cuba, they are so uptight, so best to not go out vai the US exit other ways.I have just got back from Russia & other countrys in Europe. I have decided never to travel alone again. I just do not like it, I do not do clubs or pubs so the evenings, night after night are too lonely for me when I can not find english conversation for days sometimes weeks.
Enjoy Cuba & keep us all updated as there is always things to learn from others about travel.
