I am thinking of travelling around California for 2-3 weeks sometime during 2012 (probably during the summer) on a budget. It'd be great to get maybe 3-4 people but 2 would be fine too. I've already been to California a few years ago but would like to get off the beaten path this time, wine tasting, hiking, sunbathing etc. I am thinking of possibly hiring a car or maybe if we get enough interested, hiring a mini bus to take us so we can just enjoy the views.

WHAT TO DO: Stay in coastal towns (B&B's and the odd posh hotel)

Sunbathing

Relaxing - Spa's etc

Shopping

Ending the trip in Los Angeles, doing some vintage shopping, experiencing the nightlife.

hi Ceri, I read a few articles about this year's festival and it sounded like great fun. What a line-up of bands and then the hologram of Tupac Shakur was an amazing surprize. Even if it only was a 2D hologram, people were really pleased to see him. Have you managed to go in the end ?

Hi, sorry no. I have not been on T&L for a while. Unfortunately the tickets for this event were Sold out within hours! The organizers had to set an extra date which also sold out & the tickets are now being sold for double the original price :(

I am still keen to do the road trip around California though sometime this year, possibly over summer but won't be able to attend the festival till next year.

Ha, looking at how many people are now interested in this trip, it looks like we would need to hire a mini bus rather than a car for the road trip! :)
I guess if a lot did commit to the trip then we could always get a bus along the coast so that everyone travels together.

Great idea for a trip! Would love to chat to you more about your plans. With no Glasto next year I'm keen to try another festival and I was due to drive around California with a friend this summer until her boiler blew up and put an end to any plans she had for a holiday sadly. :)

I live in Bristol but am back and forth to London lots at weekends. On holiday I like anything from sitting on the beach to sight seeing and trying new sports. Enjoying good food and a wine or two is always great too!
