London Ladies - Where are you all? Everyone seems to have gone to ground and there has been no meet-up for quite a long time. I am very happy to try and organise something during August, if I have some idea what people would like to do. Maybe a visit to the Chelsea Physic Garden, and lunch, or Kew Gardens? In the hope that August will be warm and sunny, I suggest leaving another theatre trip until the autumn. I am open to other suggestions but, if you are interested, do let me know what you suggest. I have a bit of time later this week to get something organised, so it would be good to hear from you soon MillieFree

Hi! I like the sound of Chelsea Physic Garden and lunch (I've never been there). I'm up for anything else you'd like to organise too.Is there a Shakespeare in the Park? Maybe people wouldn't like that... The important part is the LUNCH!
Kind regards, Anita

Hi MillieFree,

This sounds like a Meetup EVENT to me: London Ladies meeting.

Meetups are considered events. We have only kept the Forum structure from the old Thelma&Louise site, so that members could get used to the site first. But new meetings, events and trip ideas should be included in Events and Trip ideas, which we create specially for this purpose.

Could you please add this as "London Ladies" in the EVENTS section?

It's easy. Please click on EVENTS and on the right hand side you will find an orange button "Add an event", fill up the form and click "Save" at the end.

Please let me know if you need any help.

Thank you
Head Girl

Hello Head Girl,

Not sure I would consider it an event - just a possible informal group meet-up, like lots of the others in this section. Events sounds like something a bit more formal/organised. It would seem to be in the best place to me!

Hi all,
If people do not want to be cooped up inside during the warm weather, Sommerset house has open air films at the moment. Also, The Globe Theatre and Regents park are other options. Maybe lunch at Tattersal Castle, just opposite Embankment tube station.

Hi MillieFree,

Events does sound a little bit formal, you are right, but it was the best word we found to to define the space where the members could organise any meetings and events, where they could ask others if they would like to get together for a cup of tea, for a concert, for theater and dinner.

We wanted to put them together like this because their were lost in the Forum before. The new Events section allows you to see the events/ meetings that have been posted in the calendar and also search events by location or type (Charity, Food and Drink, Get Together, Music and Arts, Sports, T&L events or other).

We will consider changing the name of "Events". What would you suggest to be called?

As I mentioned before we have only kept the Forum structure from the old Thelma&Louise site, so that members could get used to the site first. But new meetings, events and trip ideas should be included in Events and Trip ideas, which we create specially for this purpose.

Could you please add "London Ladies" in the EVENTS section?

Please let me know if you need any help.

Thank you

So do as you are told Milliefree, or go to the bottom of the class!

Headgirl -how about simply calling it "Meetings"?.

I'm confused by the comments about where to put suggested ideas for meet-ups. EVENTS sounds as though there is a specific planned date and programme. Could there be a "Proposed meet-up" section, which is then transferred to EVENTS once it has a definite date?
I am interested in an August event- Open air theatre at Regent's Park with picnic prior to attending. Would that then make this something that should go under Theatre?

Hello Crested Grebe and Compogirl,

It looks like we are the only London Ladies left! As I said in my earlier post, I am happy to organise something for August. If outdoor theatre is the preferred choice I have a couple of suggestions.

My previous experience of productions at the Regents Park Theatre has not been very promising. I have generally been disappointed with the quality of productions there. Comedy of Errors looked the most promising prospect, but that has now finished. In which case The Globe looks the best prospect to me. Henry VIII looks interesting to me, and possibly Anne Bolyen. Let me know what you think and, if you think either looks interesting, what dates would suit you. During August I can do evenings, or afternoons at the weekend, (but not 20-24 Aug). Please let me know what you think, and I will try to get something organised.

Look forward to hearing from you

Yes, I'm interested in the Globe- but my partner would never forgive me if I went there without him. Could he be a guest? I'm planning to be away from 14 to about 23 August but otherwise free.
Do you think there is no response because the "London Ladies" thread is not e-mailing those who have expressed interest in meeting up in the London area? I have to say that I am really puzzled by this new format. You used to get an e-mail if anything was added to a thread in which you had expressed interest. I wonder if this does not happen because this Forum is not supposed to be used ( but we are using it because we are not sure about Events or Trip Ideas and how they should be used). I found that reminder facility so useful as you were immediately up-dated as to the progress of an idea. Maybe I'll work it out at some point. I found it easier when the forum for trips was divided into the various continents and there was a separate area for meet-ups.

Hi Crested Grebe,

Maybe we could try to organise something before 14th August, if that would work for Compogirl as well. I am away for a few days from 21st, and then we run into bank holiday complications. I have no problem with a guest. It would be fine by me. Did either of the plays I suggested appeal to you?

Everyone seems slightly confused about the new organisation of the site, and all the Forums seem to be peppered with messages from Head Girl (I do feel that is a slightly unfortunate choice of name), asking them to re-post their messages somewhere else. I'm not sure if that is confusing any other London ladies, but I did notice that a number seem to have moved to an Essex group. I think a number of them lived on that side of the city.

Hi London ladies,

i have chosen the username "Head Girl" beucase I am here to guide the community as part of the Thelma&Louise team. I am sorry for the confusion and I have now changed my name into "Ana - community guide". I am here to help and also to make sure that the site is used to the best advantage of all of us.

As mentioned before the advantage of the 'Events' section is that you can find the events/ meetings that have been posted in the calendar and also search events by location or type (Charity, Food and Drink, Get Together, Music and Arts, Sports, T&L events or other).

To avoid members receiving too many email we have now given you the option to click to 'Subscription' within each topic. You can find this below the Comment text box, where you post a reply. By subscirbing to a topic an email will be sent to you to notify you when a new reply has been posted. I am going to add this information on Ask Ana so that other members can see this.

Please let me know if you need any help.

Thank you

Am totally confused as to where I am meant to be "replying". That said, am happy to meet up in London - evenings or weekends are best for me as I work Monday to Thursday. I have signed up for the Gaugin Exhibition on "Events" at the end of September, but theatre or garden visit sound good to me.

Hi MillieFree,
Yes, I'd like to come to whatever. I love any Shakespeare -and don't mind at all if there is a male guest! I'm actually going to be around London this week-end (7/8th) but I suppose that's too short a notice...? After that, I think I would be looking at September, if Crested Grebe is to be included. I am going away for the Bank Holiday period. Difficult, isn't it-no less because of not getting email notifications any more, and not therefore seeing your message earlier.....
Kind regards, Anita

Hi there,

Not sure I can manage to get a theatre event planned for this weekend. How about a coffee or lunch meet-up in south London at the weekend, and a visit to The Globe (with guest) in early September? If this appeals please let me know is there is anything you would like to see, and I will check out availability.

Regards

Millie, Compo etc- Sorry about this but I have just tried, in sheer frustration- to start a London Ladies event thread on EVENTS- but I had to have several goes and put a definite date in as it would not accept an on-going date. I couldn't find a subscription button. Perhaps you have to say you are attending an event and then it might come up- I don't know but if you don't try you may never find out. I'm going to try the subscriptions button on this one. Have you had any joy trying to post on the Theatre section?
Incidentally I'm around this weekend if you want to try a quick get-together.

Hi crested_grebe, If you decide to arrange your get together this sunday 8th, then i'll be able to come along.

If not, i'll see you another time.
