Next year I'm hoping to do a Charity Challenge Jungle Trek with a friend and had my heart set on doing this in Thailand in the Kanchanaburi areas (which is the western side of Thailand). My friend has now thrown a curve ball in and has decided she would like to go to Cambodia to trek in the jungle around the Phnom Penh area instead.
I was wondering if anyone has trekked in either areas before? I have been told that in Cambodia the jungle is teeming with leeches and the terrain will be more dense and less populated whereas Thailand the route we would take will be more established (although both will be tough either way).
If anyone has any experience or advise it would be much appreciated as I need to make a decision soon.
