I have travelled with many different "small group adventure tour" operators, but am struggling with finding one that suits for a quick
trip to Australia (Melboure-Adelaide-Alice Springs-Ayers Rock). Many tours advertised, but in the fine-print most seem to be PBSAM operated by TopDeck, and are geared toward 18-30 somethings, and include dorm accomodation. Others are pricey coach tours geared toward seniors with a slower pace. I am early 40's and quite active, and would prefer a tour with budget motel/hotel or all camping. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good tour company for a 10-15 day tour of this area of Austraila that is geared to all ages but offers good activies (lots of hiking etc)? I know that age isn't a factor lots of times, as I have toured with folks from 18 to 72 on one tour and we all got along great, but not sure that I can comfortably sign up for staying in a hostel for 2 weeks. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi, I am an Aussie & have a couple of sites you could try:
*adventuretours.com.au - they have an 11 day Melb to Alice Springs Explorer for AU$1500; also an 18 day Melb to Darwin for AU$2540
There are a variety of tours & I guess they can organise combos.
*australia4tours.com
*wilderness-challenge.com.au - 4WD adventure safaris, mainly in Central Oz but you could travel from Melb to Adelaide on a separate tour, there's lots of them or there's Greyhound if you want to go independently.
Should you want to see some of Western Aust at any time there's -
*adventurewild.com.au - these are camping tours for over 25's
*safaris.net.au
Hope you find something to suit & enjoy your trip down here!
Cheers
Chris
