A health resort that is amous all over Europe, Piešt’any offers treatment for rheumatic and arthritic conditions. For many years the town spa was owned by the Erdödy family, who in 1822 built the first spa house here. The town became a popular resort visited by Beethoven and Mucha, among others. The spa facilities are located on the edge of the beautiful park, on the right bank of the Váh river, and on the spa island. Near the park is a pavilion, built in 1894 and now housing a concert hall and the Spa Museum  (Balneologické múzeum). The Columned Bridge  to the island is a fine example of 1930s Functionalist architecture.
